Feeding the Homeless in Reno

I'm hoping everyone reads this.
This is what Spread Peace Reno is all about.
We're taking a giant leap of faith and hoping volunteers and support will be there for this endeavor.

BACKGROUND

Every day we walk along the Truckee River handing out sack lunches we made earlier in the day.
Every day more and more people are showing up hoping to find food they heard was somewhere in the area.

We're spending everything we take in on food and we don't have enough to feed everyone.

OUR RESPONSE

EXPAND!!!
Yep, we have no idea how we'll pay for it or find the time to get it done but we intend to hand out sack lunches on the corner of First Street and Ralston every Wednesday at 5:30 pm.

We have not yet decided what day to start. We first need to have a few things in place.

So please look and see if there's somewhere you can contribute:

VOLUNTEERS: We need a volunteer(s) to help us make the sack lunches on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 6:00 pm.
We also need volunteers to make sandwiches on Saturdays for us to hand out over the weekend.

FOOD: Donations of bread, peanut butter, jam or jelly, fruit and individually wrapped snacks appreciated.
We are working with the Northern Nevada Food Bank and the local Oroweat Distributor on getting more food to feed more people.

DRIVE BY DONORS: When we're out there on Wednesday's we will want people to drive by and drop off donations; a sack lunch , jar of peanut butter or whatever. On the first Wednesday we want to get some good video of this. When we do set the first date can you drive up and honk so we can get video of someone running out to get the donation?

So basically, there are a few people that think I'm nuts for thinking we can expand so quickly with no money, not enough food and no volunteers. I wouldn't have it any other way :)

So anyone up for making sandwiches? Please reply if you're interested and I'll let you know when we intend to launch our new project.
