Spread Peace Reno

Live Your Values, Change the World

Our intention is that for Spread Peace Reno be an example that can be followed by others all over the world so when I read the comment below on the Facebook Wall for Spread Peace Reno I was truly touched.

>feeding the homeless in reno

Right on Krystal and Austin! You are true Bodhisattva's and your example will spread even more peace and kindness. Thanks so much!

Where Can You Help?

SLEEPING BAGS
Reno gets cold! The homeless people we're feeding are already asking us every day if we know where they can find blankets or sleeping bags. We handed out several before depleting our funds. Blankets and Sleeping bags are appreciated. We can get new, cold weather bags for $25 [Donate]

REFRIGERATOR, WASHER, DRYER
The Peace House is growing. We need another refrigerator as we're feeding more people every week and running out of room in the one we have. We also need a washer and dryer as the most of the clothing, blankets and bags we get form the thrift stores need to be washed.

FOOD
Thanks to Roberta Tams for her generous donations this week of peanut butter, jelly and more. We're feeding 5 more people a day because of her donation. We can use peanut butter, jelly , bread and individually wrapped snacks. We can provide a meal to a hungry person for as little as $1.27. You can drop off donations or make a cash donation knowing that even $2 is making a real difference! [Donate]

BIG KAHUNA
Spread Peace Reno is now feeding over 100 meals a week and will begin feeding 500 meals a week as soon as we are able to purchase a $1,200 insurance policy. The Northern Nevada Food Bank can supply 20 cases of food a week once we have the insurance policy so they know they're covered. We don't have the funding for this policy at this time. All donors of $1,000 or more will have their name placed on a plaque at the door of The Peace House thanking them for being a Founding Contributor or $1,000 or more. [Donate]

MONEY. WHY GIVE IT TO US

- Any donation of any amount is appreciated and we put 100% on the ground helping those in need.
We face heart wrenching situations every day; situations where $10 can make all the difference in the world.

- This week, Tysha discovered a single mother of seven living in a hotel room. She was hours away from being evicted. Tysha and SPR Volunteer, Roberta Tams, were able to talk to the hotel, pay the bill, and insure they had shelter until Monday when the father gets out of jail and we're told has a job waiting. Thanks Roberta!

- We're helping a Reno High School girl that has no where to live. Right now she's moving from friends house to another every few days with her mom. She was unable to enroll in school because she didn't have a mailing address. She had already missed a week before we became aware of the situation. We helped her her enroll in school, Pastor Ron got her a lap top to do her work and her mom a scooter to get around.

When you make a donation of $50 or more we'll post a picture showing the, formerly cold, homeless person you've helped keep warm for the entire winter. [Donate]

DO SOMETHING
Our mission is to create a more kind and compassionate world. Like Krystal you can make a difference in someones life. Post a comment telling us one kind thing you can do this week for another. It might be you're gonna make a sandwich like Krystal and Austin or maybe you're going to smile at a stranger and say hi. There is no such thing as big and small.

Thanks to Roberta Tams, Kathleen Trask-Eagen, Willie Puchert, Dennis & Becky Easley, Corey & Chyane for their generous donations and volunteer work this month!
We appreciate you!!!

Namsate,
Chris Tinney
